Benjamin Spiegel

Benjamin Spiegel is an experienced special situations investor with more than a decade of expertise in commercial real estate, corporate credit, and private equity. He has adeptly managed and deployed over $500 million in capital, consistently generating value through strategic investments across diverse industries and asset classes. As the Founding General Partner of Redwood Capital, Mr. Spiegel oversees the firm’s investment strategy and business development initiatives. He has established a noteworthy reputation for leading the acquisition and restructuring of undervalued assets, resulting in substantial earnings growth and setting new benchmarks in market valuations.

Prior to establishing Redwood Capital, Mr. Spiegel served as a Trader and Analyst at DG Capital, where he managed capital in excess of $200 million, achieving average annual returns that surpassed 20 percent. He was instrumental in restructuring private middle-market companies emerging from bankruptcy, facilitating strategic mergers, and attaining premium valuation exits. His career also includes significant experience at Cedarview Capital and Barclays Capital, which provided him with a solid foundation in finance and investment banking. He currently holds positions on the Board of Advisors for various entities, including Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and startups.
